Project Details
- Location: Hermitage
- What we did: Design, Construction, Planting, Lighting
- Cost: £50-55,000+VAT
- The brief:
To create a functional space which makes the garden more accessible and creates more options for seating and entertaining. The garden was to have a good size play area at the bottom of the garden as our clients often look after their young grandchildren. Drainage was also an issue which needed to be addressed. - The design:
The existing garden was a blank canvas so key features were added to widen and balance out its length. Curves were used to soften the harsh lines of the fence and add a calming flow to the garden. The existing patio was extended and a terrace of raised beds built into the existing bank, giving a generous area for new planting which provides structure and colour to the garden. The central steps allow access into the upper part of the garden and draw the eye through to further key features. A new circular patio was added to compliment the new summer house. A children’s play area and screening for the shed was designed at the back of the garden that can be easily viewed from the house and other areas of the garden. Key elements are linked by a curving path. - The outcome:
Our clients now have a muti-functional garden with zoned areas for sitting and enjoying the garden from different perspectives. Each zoned area is easily accessible, making full use of the space. The design elements have come together to create a garden that is full of interest. The planting scheme was the finishing touch to the space with plenty of colour and structure through the whole garden as well as changing colour and texture throughout the year.
