Planting Takes Place in our February Feature Garden in Woolton Hill
We recently finished this calm and contemprary garden with some carefully selected plants to complement the design.
Spring is here and we have been busy with the soft landscaping side of the business. We landscaped this garden back in February and just finished the planting last week.
The planting enhances and complements the garden design by:
- Softening the straight lines of the hard landscaping.
- Injecting instant colour which will intensify over the summer months.
- Creating interest through the structural planting scheme where plants of different heights and textures are placed side by side.
- Making new features by using different styles of plants in different borders and raised beds.
Here are some recent photos of the garden with planting in situ. The plants soften and finish off the garden well, adding contrast and movement to the design. The visual effect will be even stronger as they establish and grow over the summer and over the next year or two.
The Plants
Katie, our Garden Designer, has chosen plants from a limited colour palette of blues, purples and whites, with a calm and contemporary feel. Below are some of the plants we used: Photinia Red Robin, Viburnum Opulus, Rosa Kent, Lavandula ang. Munstead, Nassella Tenuissima, Heuchera Forever Purple, Thymus Coccineus, Geranium Azure Rush, Verbena Bonariensis, Iris Germanica White City, Salvia Nemorosa East Friesland, Echinacea Purpurea White Swan.
If you too feel inspired to get planting, head down to your local garden centre or nursery where the choices available at this time of year will not disappoint. New planting can be a quick and cost-effective way to transform any garden space especially when compared to the cost of hard landscaping.
